M+C Wedding

Mike and Chanell are very close friends of ours, and it was an honor for us to stand by their side on their wedding night. We had a blast through the whole experience, from the proposal night, to the bachelor/ette party in Mammoth, bridal shower at Ramos House, hair cuts at Kings Club, rehearsal dinner at San Juan Winery, surfing and getting ready the day of, and burritos the morning after. Oh, and the wedding itself? Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Mike and Chanell's wedding was hosted at a friend's house, with an amazing view of the ocean in San Clemente. They planned and prepared everything themselves, down to every last, beautiful detail. The decorations, music, officiant, taco truck, ice cream, sparkler exit. Everything. It was perfect.  And the dance floor? It was beyond words fun. We haven't danced all night like that in far too long. It was SO FUN!  Here are a few photos from the event, but they really don't do any justice. We were too busy having fun and enjoying the moment! We can't wait to see what the photographer captured. Chanell's dress was sooo cool!

There is a beautiful little skate bowl at the Stance Headquarters in San Clemente.  We went over on a Sunday afternoon with the Davidson's. We all promised to be safe and not get hurt before Mike and Chanell's wedding the following weekend.  It was great! Owen got his first taste of skating the bowl with Mom and Dad.

Pumpkin Patch

We had a fun trip to the San Juan Capistrano pumpkin patch with the grandparents!

Owen was so cute in his pumpkin onsie. He had many admirers!

Brandon and Owen painted and carved the pumpkins right before Halloween.  Owen was a great helper, and had to taste and feel the gooey pumpkin seeds!

  

Skate Shreddin

Most surfers think the ultimate conditions are 6 foot waves and glassy, windless surface textures.  We use the term "it's 6 foot and glassy out there" to mean something that's in perfect condition.  Today we visited the skate park with Owen, and it was 6 foot and glassy!

Owen loved watching all the kids on their boards, zooming around the park.  This was a whole new experience for him, and he really took in the sights, sounds and people.  Who knows if he will love it when he gets older, but it was fun to get him out to watch mom and dad shred a few laps today.

First Waves at the Stoked-O-Rama!

So this is kind of a big deal...

Owen caught his first waves. He was 5 months old, and caught 2 waves with his dad on a boogie board at T-street.

Heres the story:  We went down to T-Street to support our friends, the Gudauskas Brothers, and the event they host each year at T-Street called the Stoked-O-Rama.  The G-Boys are professional surfers, and are fortunate enough to travel the world doing what they love. They wanted to give back to the community, so they started a surf contest for the local kids. The event is free, paid for by the G-Boys and sponsors, complete with insanely cool goodie bags (think free shoes, sunglasses, etc). The G-Boys are there and hang with the kids all day, supporting them along the shoreline and throwing high fives until their hands are sore. The coolest part is that they are able to raise money though the contest to pay for scholarships for kids to participate in the San Clemente Jr. Lifeguards. The event is so inspiring. Parents wait outside Jack's Surfshop at 3am to get a spot in the contest, as it fills up in less than an hour. Our favorite event to watch is Pops-n-Pups (8 and under). The little grommies head out into the water and their dad or mom push them into waves. Some of the kids can barely paddle, but when they stand up on a wave, they absolutely rip. Owen, are you ready for Stoke-O-Rama 2022?

We hung out with the kids all day, rooting them on and thinking about what a great community we are a part of.  The water was warm, the sun was out, and Owen was as stoked as always to play in the water. Owen really, really likes the water. When people see him in the ocean, they are amazed that he is ok with the cold water. We never forced him in the water, but from his first experiences, he was always happy.  So, we were playing in the water and decided to see if Owen would like laying down on Mac's boogie board.  Again, he was stoked and was having fun, so Brandon put him up on the nose of the boogie board and rode two waves with Owen. Owen loved every second of it. Kalli got some great photos, thank goodness! We stopped at two waves because we wanted to end on a high note while Owen was still happy and stoked.  Wow. How cool is that?  Catching waves at 5 months?  Owen is seriously a San Clemente local now. Atta boy...
